Lawyer Ibrahim Shameel has been elected Vice President of the Bar Council.
In Thursday's election for vacated positions in the Bar Council, Shameel was elected as Vice President with 291 votes.
His opponent, former Senior Lawyer at the Attorney General's Office Ma'asha Luthfy received 216 votes.
Shameel is a member of the Bar Council's Executive Committee even at present. He runs a law firm that takes on many major criminal cases.
Lawyers were also elected to two other positions in the Bar Council's Executive Committee: Abdulla Nahid and Ahmed Shafiu.
