More than 1,800 students have secured top 10 rankings in the O Level examinations held in 2022 and 2023, the Ministry of Education has announced.
An awards ceremony to honour these high achievers will be held tomorrow and the following day at the Social Centre in Male'.
The event will also include the presentation of the President’s Award to the top-performing students in both O-Level and A-Level examinations, as well as the Presidential Scholarships for the highest achievers in A-Levels. In addition, High Achievement Scholarships will be awarded to students who scored an A or above.
The ministry has not clarified why the top 10 recognition for the 2022 and 2023 O-Level cohorts was delayed.
While the “High Achievers Award” for globally ranked A-Level students was presented during last year’s A-Level top 10 event, the O-Level top 10 ceremonies for those years had yet to be held until now.
According to the ministry, over 1,800 students achieved top-tier results in secondary and higher secondary exams across both years.
