President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Zam’ath Ahmed Waheed as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom).
The vacancy was left by the expiry of Aminath Ameena’s (Anaa) term.
Six candidates applied for the position, with interviews conducted by Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee. Three candidates scored above 75 marks.
Zam’ath, from Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, was approved for the post on Monday with 56 votes in favour.
Zam’ath has been active in journalism since 2006 and holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from the Islamic University of Maldives. She previously worked at Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu and VTV.
With this appointment, Broadcom now comprises seven members, five of whom are women.
