First Lady Sajida Mohamed has departed for Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the 7th Edition of the Merck Foundation First Ladies Initiative (MFFLI) Summit as the Guest of Honour.
According to the President’s Office, the First Lady is scheduled to deliver remarks at both the Summit’s Inauguration Session and the Committee Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
These meetings will focus on key social issues, including efforts to break the stigma surrounding infertility, promote girls’ education, support women's empowerment, and strengthen healthcare systems in areas with critical skill shortages, President's Office said.
The MFFLI Summit brings together First Ladies from across Africa and Asia to collaborate on impactful social initiatives.
This year’s edition will also include a review of the progress made through ongoing partnerships with the Merck Foundation since the 11th Edition of the Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary, which was held in Tanzania last year.
First Lady Sajidha participated in that event and was subsequently appointed as a Merck Foundation More Than A Mother Ambassador.
