President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has ordered the report prepared by the Presidential Commission on the case of Hawwa Yumn Rasheed to be made public without any changes.
In a post on X, President Muizzu confirmed that he has now received the Commission's report. He said that he has instructed the commission to make the report public in full, without any changes.
Yumn was found fallen on to the roof of a warehouse at H. Mitaaz from what Police have said is a fanlight on the 9th floor stairwell of adjacent H. Fentenoy. With heavy public criticism against the Police's handling of the case, the President formed a Presidential Commission to investigate the incident.
The Presidential Commission looked into the case over a period of approximately two months. Commission members are former Attorney General Dr Mohamed Munawwar, Brigadier General Retired Ahmed Mohamed, Dr Moosa Murad, Jabeen Mohamed and Aminath Eenas.
Police, meanwhile, arrested Raudh Ahmed Zilal in relation to the case. Raudh was the last person seen to accompany Yumn on the night of the incident. After having his remand extended multiple times, Raudh has now been released from custody. The Prosecutor General's Office is, however, charging Raudh with failure to provide assistance to a person in need without justifiable reason, which carries a prison sentence of one month and six days.
Police have also recently said that they are yet to receive a statement from Yumn, who is still in Malaysia for further treatment for injuries sustained in the fall.
