Police have begun towing vehicles illegally parked along Majeedhee Magu and said it will only be released after 48 hours.

In a statement shared on social media, the Maldives Police Service said the enforcement drive began on Thursday and urged the public to use designated parking zones.

“Vehicles towed in this manner will be released after 48 hours,” police said, adding that action will be taken against those who violate this regulation.

A police media official speaking to Mihaaru News said that vehicle towing from Majeedhee Magu began yesterday.

On the first day of enforcement, 37 two-wheelers and five four-wheelers were removed from the road.

Majeedhee Magu, one of the main roads through Male', was reconstructed in 2022 with a ban on parking on either side. However, authorities say illegal parking has since returned in parts of the road.
