President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his profound sadness following the tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171 near Ahmedabad, India.
In a post on X, President Muizzu extended condolences on behalf of the government and people of Maldives, affirming their solidarity with India during what he described as a time of great difficulty.
The Air India flight, bound for London, was carrying at least 242 passengers when it crashed shortly after take-off, according to initial reports.
Details regarding casualties or the cause of the crash are yet to be confirmed.
