A 41-year-old Maldivian man has been found deceased inside a house in the Machangolhi ward in Male', police said.

The man was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for "treatment" early this morning, but was pronounced dead on arrival, police said in a statement.

Authorities have not disclosed the cause of death and said an investigation is under way.

In recent months, several similar cases of people being found dead inside residences in Male' have been reported, although police have yet to reveal causes in those cases.
