Palestine has been officially granted Observer Status at the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The status was granted after the adoption of a resolution with 386 votes in favour, 15 against and 42 abstentions.
Maldives also voted in favour of granting Palestine Observer Status.
The meeting in Geneva was attended by a Maldives delegation, led by Higher Education Minister Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed.
The President's Office said that this marks a powerful step forward in recognition of the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people within the international labour community, expressing pride in having stood in solidarity with Palestine and being a part of the decision.
They further said that Minister Haidar had met with Palestinian delegation following the vote, where he expressed Maldives' continued support.
Minister Haidar also delivered a speech at Wednesday's ILO meeting.
