Police have said that they stopped 141 vehicles and fined 11 motorists during the two hour vehicle ban in Male' and Vilimale' yesterday held in celebration of Eid Al Adha.
Male' City Council earlier announced a two hour vehicle ban in the Greater Male' Area yesterday evening. However, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation later limited the ban to Male' and Vilimale'.
Police said that they had increased police presence on the streets during these two hours.
During the time, 141 motorists had been stopped and advised, while 11 persons had been fined, they said.
A further three vehicles were towed during yesterday's operation, Police said. These were for dangerous driving, driving with an expired license and driving without a license.
