Ministry of Education has opened applications for student placements at the new school under construction in Hulhumale' Phase Two. Applications are open from June 1 to 15 and are limited to students currently enrolled in schools within the Male' region.

Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu previously announced that the new school being built in the country’s fastest-growing residential area will begin classes in January next year.

The modern, fully air-conditioned school is expected to be completed by November this year.

The school will accommodate students from grades 1 to 10, with 54 classrooms and a capacity of 1,500 students. If demand exceeds capacity, the ministry may introduce two shifts to accommodate additional students.

“Enrollment projections will be finalized based on the collected data, and classes will be arranged accordingly,” an Education Ministry official said.

The ministry urges interested parents to submit applications before the June 15 deadline.

Currently, over 900 students from Hulhumale' Phase Two attend schools in Hulhumalé Phase One due to overcrowding. The ministry says the area still needs at least seven more schools to meet growing demand. Construction of two more schools in Hulhumale' is scheduled to begin later this year.
