Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works has called on the public to ensure that this year’s Eid al-Adha celebrations are conducted in accordance with Islamic principles and standards.
In a statement, the ministry said that the Maldivian people have traditionally celebrated Eid with great enthusiasm and color. However, it reminded the public that all festivities should remain within the bounds of Islamic teachings.
The ministry noted that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu gives high importance to preserving Islamic values while ensuring that Eid celebrations are inclusive and joyful for all age groups.
“The government welcomes the planning and conduct of Eid festivities and activities in all islands in accordance with Islamic principles, limits and standards,” the statement said, encouraging communities to uphold these values during their celebrations.
The ministry also urged all relevant government institutions to monitor and ensure that celebrations across the country adhere to the established religious and guidelines.
This year, Eid al-Adha falls on Friday, and the festival will be marked over a four-day period.
