Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has said that weather conditions during the upcoming Eid Al-Adha holidays are not expected to be severe enough to prevent sea travel.
According to an official from the Met Office, while some rainfall is expected over the holidays, wind speeds are forecasted to remain moderate, ranging between 10 and 15 miles per hour.
The official said that although the sea will not be completely calm, they are not anticipated to become too rough for travel.
However, Met Office has urged seafarers and travelers to stay updated with the latest weather advisories to ensure safety.
Eid Al-Adha will fall on Friday this year, and government offices will be closed from Thursday, which is Hajj Day, until the following Monday.
Many people use this holiday to visit islands, making it one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
In previous years, Eid holidays have often been affected by rough weather. The southwest monsoon, or Hulhangu, began last month and typically lasts from May to November, bringing periods of heavy rain and wind.
April and December mark the transitional periods between the monsoons, while the northeast monsoon (Iruvai) generally occurs from January to March.
