Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has returned to Maldives after completing official visits to Hawaii and Tajikistan.
VP Hussain represented Maldives at key international events focused on climate action and environmental preservation during these trips.
At the invitation of the Blue Planet Alliance (BPA), VP Hussain delivered an address at the opening ceremony of the BPA Fellowship Programme in Hawaii and signed a non-binding agreement expressing Maldives’ aspiration to expand renewable energy deployment, reinforcing the its commitment to global climate goals.
Following this, in Tajikistan, the Vice President participated in the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation.
In his opening session statement, he highlighted Maldives’ concerns about glacier loss and called for urgent, collective global action to combat climate change.
He also met with Tajikistan’s Prime Minister, Kokhir Rasulzoda, during a courtesy call, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
