Flats to be completed, handed over by end of September

Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib has said that this government aims to complete construction and hand over the 4000 flats under Gedhoruveriya scheme by the end of September.

In a press conference held at the President's Office yesterday, the minister announced that as of now, 1000 of the 4000 flats have been completed, with efforts now ongoing to connect water, sewerage and electricity to these flats.

"Our hope is that these 1000 flats will be provided with these services within July," he said.

The Minister said that agreements will be made with flat recipients on order of priority as they reach completion.

He further said that the government aims to complete another 1000 flats by the end of next month, with all 4000 flats to be completed by the end of September.

He also announced that the government is now considering the flat list issued by the previous government in November 2023 as the final list of recipients, with those who do not meet the criteria to be excluded from it.
