“Since Hajj Day and Eid al-Adha coincide with days already declared as holidays, there will be no changes to the official calendar,” Heena said.

President’s Office stated that there will be no additional public holidays declared in connection with this year’s Eid al-Adha, as the dates fall on already designated holidays.

Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed announced via a post on X that Hajj Day, which corresponds to Dhul Hijjah 9 in the Islamic calendar, will fall on Thursday, June 5, according to both the Maldives and Saudi Arabian calendars.

“Since Hajj Day and Eid al-Adha coincide with days already declared as holidays, there will be no changes to the official calendar,” Heena said.

As a result, of the four days associated with the Eid al-Adha break, two fall on the weekend. Eid al-Adha falls on Friday, Sunday, June 8, and Monday, June 9 has been declared a public holiday.

This is in contrast to Eid al-Fitr earlier this year, which included an extended 15-day break, with the addition of the last 10 days of Ramadan and five days of Eid holidays.
