Civil Court has ruled that there is no action to be taken to enforce their earlier ruling that SOF company must pay MVR 165 million in relation the major corruption case involving MMPRC.
The ruling came following MMPRC submitting a case at the Civil Court in 2017 seeking payment of USD 10.7 million (over MVR 165 million) owed to them by SOF under an agreement between the companies.
SOF failed to complete the payment within six months as stipulated in the court's ruling, due to which MMPRC submitted a case for ruling enforcement.
Civil Court ruled yesterday that it is proven SOF has not made the payments as per their earlier ruling.
However, the ruling said that the Court has not been able to ascertain whether SOF has any assets or income. As such, they ruled that under the Civil Procedures Act, there is currently no further action that can be taken to recover these funds.
The Civil Court hence ruled that MMPRC has the option of resubmitting a case with documentation proving that SOF has the financial means.
