Police said today that the severed arm of a Bangladeshi man, who was struck by a speedboat while snorkeling near a resort in Noonu atoll, has not been found despite multiple searches.
The incident occurred on the night of May 12 and was reported to authorities at 10:30 pm.
The 30-year-old victim had been snorkeling and collecting sea cucumbers when he was hit by a speedboat, resulting in the amputation of his right arm at the elbow.
According to police, two searches were conducted in the area where the accident occurred, but the missing arm could not be located.
Statements have been taken from several individuals, including the captain of the speedboat involved in the accident.
"The area where the incident occurred has been searched twice. However, the victim's severed arm has not been found," police said in a message to the media.
While no immediate action has been taken, police stated that appropriate steps will be taken against those responsible once parts of the investigation are completed.
The injured man is currently receiving treatment at ADK Hospital.
Although the investigation is ongoing, the cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
