Authorities are investigating a case involving a teacher from a school in Addu City who allegedly struck a student on the head with a metal water bottle.

Police said that the incident was reported on Monday and the student was taken to the hospital for examination. While no external injuries were observed, the matter is under investigation.

A family member of the student told Mihaaru News that the student had previously undergone brain surgery and is currently awaiting another operation.

According to the family, the incident occurred while the student was resting his head on a table, when the teacher allegedly hit him on the head.

Ministry of Education has not yet issued a statement regarding the case.
