Muli Airport begins operations

The first airport in Meemu atoll, on the island of Muli, has commenced operations today.

Development of the Muli Airport began in August 2021 under the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Work at the airport was completed, and a test flight was landed on April 25.

Regional Airports said today that commercial operations at Muli Airport are open to national airline Maldivian, Villa Air, and Manta airline.

Under the project, 14 hectares of land was reclaimed, shore protection was conducted on 1,812 meters, and a 30 meter wide runway was built. The project cost MVR 225 million.
