18 classrooms to be added to Ghaazee School in Hulhumale'

Ministry of Finance has announced a tender for the construction of 18 additional classrooms at Ghaazee School, located in Hulhumale' Phase one.

The bidding process is now open, with the deadline for submissions set for May 26.

Interested parties must register before May 21, with a registration fee of MVR 500. Bidders are also required to submit a bid security of MVR 121,000, valid for 148 days from the bid opening date.

The expansion comes amid mounting pressure on existing schools in both Hulhumale' one and two, as population growth in Phase two has exceeded beyond available of education infrastructure.

Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu previously highlighted the urgent need for new facilities, stating that Hulhumale' requires at least seven additional schools offering Grades 1 through 10 to meet demand.

A new school currently under construction in Phase two is expected to begin classes in January next year.

The Minister also revealed that plans are underway to begin construction of two more schools this year, although their locations have yet to be finalized.
