Woman injured in Thinadhoo accident in serious condition

Police said the woman remains in a critical condition in the ICU due to complications from an infection following brain surgery.

A woman who sustained injuries in a road accident in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo is in serious condition and is being treated in ICU.

The accident occurred on the afternoon of April 27, when a car collided with a motorcycle near the old Friday Mosque in Thinadhoo. The 31-year-old woman, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered serious head injuries in the accident.

She was initially treated in the ICU at Dr Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital in Thinadhoo before being transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male' later that day.

Police previously said her family reported signs of recovery following her transfer to IGMH.

However, when asked for an update on the Police Media WhatsApp group, police said the woman remains in a critical condition in the ICU due to complications from an infection following brain surgery.

Police said the driver of the car involved in the collision has been questioned, but no further details have been provided.

Police are currently investigating the incident.
