Former Police Commissioner Ali Shujau has retired from the Maldives Police Service, following a ceremony held yesterday at Iskandhar Building.
The event was attended by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan, alongside Deputy Commissioners of Police Ismail Naveen and Farhad Fikry, senior officers, and Shujau’s family members.
In a statement published on the police website, Shujau expressed gratitude to all who had supported him during his career in the force.
At the ceremony, he was presented with a plaque of honour and a retirement card.
The plaque, awarded to retiring police commissioners, features the commissioner's colours, medals, and uniform insignia, as well as a police identity card.
The retirement card, issued to officers retiring with honour, serves as an official form of identification when entering police facilities.
Shujau joined Maldives Police Service in September 2006 after eight years in the education sector. He was promoted to commissioned rank in 2008 and went on to serve in key areas including training, operations, intelligence, and investigations.
He held several leadership roles and represented Maldives Police at national and international forums.
He was appointed Commissioner of Police on 25 December 2023, and resigned on 26 April this year.
Shujau had resigned from his post prior to his retirement.
Deputy Commissioner Farhad Fikry has been given temporary charge of Maldives Police Service.
