Maldives National University (MNU) has announced that it will host a Student Research Symposium alongside its annual Theveli International Conference.

The conference is scheduled to take place from August 18 to 20.

Held annually since 2017, the Theveli Conference serves as a platform that brings together scholars, researchers, and students to share insights and foster collaboration.

A dedicated Student Research Symposium will be introduced on the opening day of the conference, aimed at undergraduate students across all bachelor's degree programmes at MNU.

The symposium is designed to enhance students’ research capabilities, scientific writing skills, and their ability to present findings in line with academic standards.

Two awards “Undergraduate Research Excellence” Award and the “Best Faculty” Award will be presented during the conference.

MNU said that the abstract book for both the student symposium and Theveli 2025 will be made available on its official website. Selected papers will be published in the Theveli Special Issue of the Maldives National Journal of Research.

Submissions for abstracts and full papers are now open. The theme for Theveli 2025 is “Evolving Paradigms: Merging Research, Evidence, and Practice”.

According to MNU, the conference continues to grow in participation and global reach year on year.

Last year, the event saw 206 research paper presentations, including more than 40 submissions from international universities.

This year’s conference will once again include awards for “Outstanding Paper of the Conference” and “Early Career Research”.

Papers may be submitted in either English or Arabic. Post-conference sessions featuring keynote speakers are scheduled for August 21.
