Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has said that 3.8 million plants were imported into Maldives between January and end of April.
Records from the inspection carried out by the ministry until April 30 shows that 405 shipments were inspected within the period. This included 3.86 million plants, the ministry said.
37 shipments were seized for violations, this consisted on 4,732 plants.
The 368 shipments released by the ministry had 3.86 million plants.
The ministry said that 4,408 plants in 35 shipments were destroyed. Another shipment was released once required documents were submitted, which included 324 plants.
