A man has been injured after a motorcycle crashed into the fence of Hankede Bridge in Addu City while travelling at high speed, police said today.
Police said that they received reports that the motorcycle was heading from Hithadhoo towards Maradhoo and lost control, crashing into the bridge fence.
Police said one person injured in the accident is currently receiving treatment at Addu Equatorial Hospital.
The extent of the injuries has not been disclosed. Police are currently investigating the incident.
Footage circulating on social media appears to show two men riding the motorcycle. Both fell from the vehicle, with one seen lying outside the fence. He is believed to have sustained more serious injuries, with visible blood on the ground.
Two fatal accidents have been reported on the Hankede Bridge so far this year.
