Chinese Ambassador presents credentials to President

Newly appointed Ambassador of China to the Maldives Kong Xianhua has presented his credentials to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning.

Xianhua was appointed to the position after the term of previous Ambassador Wang Lixin came to an end last December.

The Ambassador was escorted to a ceremony at the President's Office this morning by a special cultural procession 'Haiykolhu', alongside MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.

President Muizzu welcomed the Ambassador and expressed hopes of continuing to strengthen ties between the countries.

Ambassador Xianhua assured President Muizzu of China's continued support towards Maldives.

He also highlighted the strong ties and the special significance Maldives holds for Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Xianhua previously served as Consul General at the Chinese Embassy in Mumbai, India.
