President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated yesterday that the main objective in digitalizing Maldives is to successfully eradicate corruption.
In a 14 hour press conference held at the President's Office yesterday, the President expressed a wish to run the administration through a digital system.
He said that 'Maldives 2.0' is an initiative being launched for this purpose, with the aim to achieve zero corruption.
"The main objective is to eradicate corruption. In anything, if there is more human intervention involved, then it is in human nature to do some wrong. So, when things are done digitally, automatically corruption tends to decrease," he said.
"When a digital system is introduced, corruption will be eradicated, and things will happen transparently and more swiftly."
The President stated that a number of MoUs had been signed during his visit to Estonia last year. The government's aim is to digitalize services in Maldives through assistance from Estonia, he said.
