The legal representative of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s family, Azima Shakoor, has said that a screenshot circulating on social media, allegedly showing an Instagram post by the President’s daughter, Yasmine Mohamed Muizzu is fake.

In a statement posted on social media, Azima stated that the screenshot claiming to be Yasmine’s response to the recent arrest of a woman during a youth-led protest is fabricated.

The President's family has urged to stop spreading false information about Yasmine as well.

The President’s family has also taken legal action against senior opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) activist Mariyam Zubair (Mandhi) over remarks made about the President’s son, Umair Mohamed Muizzu.

A defamation suit has been filed, along with a complaint to the Family Court, accusing Mariyam of violating protections guaranteed under the Child Rights Protection Act and international child protection conventions. The court held a closed-door hearing on Wednesday, and further details remain confidential.

At the center of the complaint is a claim made by Mariyam during a protest, where she alleged that the government banned vape imports following reports that Umair had been vaping.

The President’s family has since denied the allegation, asserting that Umair has never used vape products.
