Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man was found in a house in Male'.
The man has been identified as Mohamed Hisaam, 40, of M. Aluvimaageaage. His body was discovered last Tuesday in a residence in Maafannu ward, police said today.
The investigation led to his body being held at the mortuary until today. A post-mortem was planned and the family had been consulted, according to police.
However, Hisaam's body was later released to his family as they did not consent for a postmortem. His funeral was held at Aa Sahara cemetery following Asr prayers.
There has been a recent rise in cases where bodies have been discovered in unexplained circumstances. In some instances, post-mortems have been carried out, although authorities have yet to disclose the reason behind the increase in such deaths.
