Dr Mohamed Habeeb, who was appointed as a member of the Presidential Commission formed to investigate the case of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, has resigned citing he has family links to Raudh Ahmed Zilal, who was arrested in relation to the case.

Raudh was the last person to be seen accompanying Yumnu on the night of her fall from a high storey of H. Fentenoy on to the roof of an adjacent warehouse.

Raudh's mother hails from Hithadhoo, Addu, and has a familial connection to Dr Habeeb. Habeeb is also from Hithadhoo.

Habeeb was also classmates with Hala Hameed, mother of Yoosuf Yassar Abdul Ghafoor. H. Meenaaz, who is amongst those whose passports have been seized in relation to the case.

The Presidential Commission to investigate the case of Yumnu, who was discovered with severe injuries, fallen on to the roof of a warehouse located at H. Mitaaz on April 18, was formed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu last Saturday.

Members appointed to the commission besides Dr Habeeb are former Attorney General Dr Mohamed Munavvar and former Vice Chief of Defence Force Ahmed Mohamed. Dr Munavvar is the President of the commission.
