Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has stated today that a travel ban has now been imposed on the group of individuals who were accompanying the woman found fallen on a roof last Friday.

These are individuals who were accompanying her earlier on Thursday night before she went to the house where the incident occurred.

Police also said that they have now obtained Court orders to conduct inspections of the houses the group entered on the night.

Responding to allegations of Police coverups and discrimination due to individuals with political connections being involved in the case, Commissioner of Police assured that the service will be transparent in its investigation, and that there will be no discrimination in how the case is investigated.

The commissioner said that Police received reports of a woman fallen on the roof of a building at around 7:30am on Friday morning. She was taken to hospital around 8am, he said.

Police worked to identify the woman, which took up time as she did not have a record with the Police. Upon identification, Police informed the family.

Police then looked into possible buildings where the woman could have fallen from, identifying H. Fentoniya as the building. Footage recovered from the residence showed the woman and Raud Ahmed Zilal, 21, being on the stairwell of the building. Although Zilal has not been arrested, Police said that his phone has been seized, as well as having been placed on a travel ban.

Police also said that forensic examinations have been conducted on the frame of the window she is believed to have fallen through, as well as the aluminium railing on the staircase. This will be examined to determine whether there was involvement of another individual in the incident.

Police also addressed speculations about whether the woman could have fallen through the fanlight, located above her height. They said that scene reconstructions will be conducted to see how it was possible.

Later reviewing of footage of their activities, shows the two, accompanied by seven other youth, entering H. Maandhooge Dhekunubai at around midnight. The commissioner said that all these individuals have now been identified, and their statements taken.

Commissioner Shujau stated that Police will investigate the actions of the group ahead of the incident, and their connections to the incident itself.
