The largest vessel in Maldives National Defence Force's 'Huravee' has left to return to Maldives yesterday after being in India for four months for repairs.

The vessel was gifted to Maldives by the Indian government in 2023 in exchange for a vessel gifted earlier in 2006. After the previous vessel was decommissioned, this vessel was also named 'Huravee' and brought into service. This is the first time that the vessel has been taken to India for repairs.

The new vessel is larger and has more operational capabilities than the previous vessel.

In a post of Facebook yesterday, the Indian Navy said that the Maldives' Coast Guard's Huravee has left to Maldives after repairs at Mumbai's Naval Dockyard.

The Indian Navy said that all the machinery, weaponry and sensors on the boat have now been completely repaired. They said that after repairs, tests were conducted at sea, operational checks on equipment done, and safety audits as well as operational sea trainings conducted.

The Indian government has in given another vessel to MNDF in 2019 as well, which has been named Coast Guard 'Kaamiyaabu' [Success].
