Sheikh Dr Salah Al-Budair, Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah, Saudi Arabia has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu earlier this morning.

President Muizzu extended a warm welcome to the Imam, and emphasized that the visit exhibits the close ties between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

He expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Saudi government towards Maldives' development, especially in the field of Islamic education.

Sheikh Dr Salah Al-Budair thanked the Maldives government for the invitation extended to him. He delivered greetings and well wishes from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulazia Al Saud.

He highlighted that the close bond between the two countries stems from shared Islamic values.

The President and the Imam both expressed hopes of further strengthening relations, and that the visit will serve as a source of inspiration for the people of Maldives.

Sheikh Dr Salah Al-Budair arrived in the Maldives yesterday and was welcomed with a red carpet reception.

During his visit, Sheikh Dr Al-Budair will deliver a special religious lecture at 08:15 pm on Thursday night at Islamic Center, which will be translated into Dhivehi language by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

He will also lead the Maghrib and Isha prayers at the King Salman Mosque on Wednesday night, April 23, and the Isha prayer at the Islamic Center on Thursday night, April 24, as well as Friday prayer at the Islamic Center on April 25.
