The Police Station in Baa atoll Eydhafushi has started collecting information of children who are out at night without being accompanied by a guardian.

The Police website said that Eydhafushi Police commenced this initiative yesterday with a view towards protecting children from crime, bringing down crime rates and establishing a peaceful environment.

Under this initiative, information will be gathered on children who are out at night after 10pm without being accompanied by a guardian. Through this, children who engage in criminal activity will be identified, after which efforts will be made with relevant institutions to reintegrate them into society, Police said.

Police said that they are conducting various programmes in collaboration with island institutions to establish and maintain a crime-free, peaceful environment.
