Raa atoll Inguraidhoo Council has said today that they are working on relocating the growing stray cat population on the island to an uninhabited island in response to complaints from residents.

In a statement released today, the council said that the increase in stray cats has caused a public nuisance on the island, leading to residents requesting the numbers be decreased at the earliest.

They announced that they are seeking persons to safely catch the cats and transfer them to a nearby island.

The council said that the cats are to be transferred to an island which does not fall into the jurisdiction of any council.

Interested parties are asked to submit a quotation to the council before April 27. The quoted price must be for catching 300 cats, they said.
