President Dr Mohamed Muizzu stated last night that it is a responsibility of educated persons to instill and uphold good habits in society. He said that if this is neglected, then the condition of the society as a whole will deteriorate over time.
The President made these comments in his speech last night at the Graduation Ceremony of the Islamic University of Maldives.

President Muizzu said that Allah granted education to mankind so that proper use can be made of this, which is not a choice but a responsibility.
"It must be done. If not there is nothing we can say when we are questioned about it [on the Day of Judgement]," he said.
He said that all educated persons must work towards the betterment of society, beginning from their families, work spaces to the larger community.

He said that sinful activities within society can only be avoided through shaping all aspects of society in a rightful manner. He said that it is especially the responsibility of educated persons to free the society from societal ills.
The President called on the graduates to bear in mind that there is an immense difference between them and the uneducated.

In his speech, President Muizzu also reiterated that the government places high priority on the further development of the Islamic University. He said that the recently announced building of the mixed-use complex is also amongst the government's policies to assist the university.
He also announced that a land would be granted to the university from Hulhumale', which will allow for even better facilities to be set up.
