Elections Commission to halt use of party membership portal

Elections Commission has decided that it will discontinue use of its political party membership portal from January 30 onwards. This has come in the wake of rising number of cases of persons being registered to parties wrongfully.

With the case of Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad (Fitte') being registered to ruling People's National Congress (PNC) without his consent or knowledge coming to light, Elections Commission commenced thorough reviews of administrative work in registering persons to political parties.
