The Criminal Court and Juvenile Court has remanded the suspects arrested over the murder of Ahmed Anas for 8-10 days, Police announced Wednesday.
Police stated that the courts issued different periods for the remands of the 12 suspects who were arrested from Asareehiya last Sunday night. The detainees include the prime suspects accused of being actively involved in killing Ahmed Anas as well as some minors.
However, Police have not disclosed the identities, photographs or other details of the suspects.
Ahmed Anas, 25, of Raa atoll Meedhoo island was found with multiple stab wounds in Male last Monday night. A captain of a speedboat in Raa atoll who was in the midst of wedding preparations, Anas was the second person to be killed in less than a week amidst the recent upsurge of gang violence in capital Male. A man named Nadeem Abdul Raheem, 24, was killed five days before Anas’ brutal murder, when he was stabbed by a group of people inside a café.
Police have launched a major manhunt for 34 suspects in connection with the recent string of gang violence incidents in Male. They letter announced that several people on the list have been apprehended.
