Japanese MP on vacation in Maldives passes away

A Japanese Member of Parliament on holiday in a resort in Maldives has passed away.

Police said that they had received reports of a 70 year old Japanese tourist found dead in the sea while snorkelling at 08:33 hrs yesterday.

No further details have been disclosed yet.

Some Japanese media have reported that a ruling party MP, Toshiyuki Adachi has died in the Maldives. It has not, however, been formally announced by Japanese parliament as of yet.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not commented on the matter yet.
