Man arrested for attempting knife attack on Imam

An individual was arrested last night for attempting to attack an Imam who was conducting Maghrib prayers in Hulhumale'.

A Police media official said that a 33 year old Maldivian man has been arrested for attempting assault with a sharp object on an Imam conducting prayers in a mosque in Hulhumale' Phase 1.

The official said that the man had then attempted to attack a police officer who intervened to stop the attacker.

The man has been arrested on charges of attempting assault with a sharp object on a police officer.

Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
