Pakistan will develop a medical college in the Maldives, announced Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.
Currently on an official visit to the Maldives on invitation of President Abdulla Yameen to partake in the Independence Day celebrations, PM Nawaz told reporters that the government of Pakistan will also offer scholarships to Maldivian students to purse higher studies in fields such as medicine, engineering, pharmacology and dentistry in Pakistan.
The two South Asian allies signed six agreements Tuesday to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations. The MOUs are in the sectors of tourism, climate change and environmental protection, education, business and trade, civil service, and foreign affairs.
In his talk, PM Nawaz expressed hopes that the longstanding relations between the Maldives and Pakistan will continue to be further established and strengthened in other sectors as well in the future.
