President of Maldives Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential elections held today.
Based on preliminary results, USA's current Vice President and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris has only received 47.4 percent of the votes while Trump, who previously served a term as president of the country, won 51.1 percent of the votes.
Congratulating Trump, President Muizzu said that Maldives and the US share a strong partnership based on mutual respect, goodwill and understanding.
"I look forward to strengthening our cooperation, address mutual challenges and work towards advancing global peace and prosperity," the president wrote.
Following Trump's success in the election, global leaders have been sending him congratulatory messages.
