Parliament to consider candidates for Tax Appeal Tribunal

The names of thirteen candidates have been submitted to Parliament for consideration for the four vacant positions on the Tax Appeal Tribunal.

In a letter sent to Parliament today on behalf of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, it was stated that four positions on the Tax Appeal Tribunal have become vacant, with multiple individuals applying for the roles during the public announcement period.

2. Aishath Adam

3. Ibrahim Shareef

4. Shifza Abdul Gayyoom

5. Ahmed Saeed

6. Abdul Hakeem

7. Ameen Zahir

8. Mohamed Faris

9. Abdul Ghani Mohamed

10. Ahmed Ali

11. Ali Riza Ismail

12. Fathima Shafeenaz

13. Majeed Ali

Parliament chair has referred the matter to the parliament's Judiciary of for consideration.

The remaining four members of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, with the exception of Ismail Saajid, were removed from their posts in August following the parliament's recommendation for their removal.
