Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal has rejected claims made by former President Abdulla Yameen who claimed that he now owns land in capital Male' City.
In a People's National Front rally, Yameen alleged that "Abdul Raheem's [son] Faisal has also bought land in Male' now".
In response, Faisal stated that he does not own any land plots or apartments anywhere in the country.
"I don't have any flats or land in my name anywhere. Not even in Male'. Even if I visit my island, I stay at my father's residence," Faisal, the son of Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla said.
Faisal claims that Yameen's words are a personal attack, and added that some people close to the former President have taken to harassing Faisal on the streets as well.
He called on Yameen to refrain from uttering 'outright lies', and to stop trying to create discord amongst the public.
Yameen, meanwhile, claims in his speeches in party rallies that officials of this government are buying land and engaging in acts of corruption.
