Referring to Malé City as Kaafu Malé is an unconstitutional statement, said Minister of Cities and Local Governance Adam Shareef today.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the minister said that as of recent, referring to the capital city as Kaafu (atoll) Malé is becoming common practice. However, the constitution refers to the capital of the country as Malé and not Kaafu Malé, he said.
