BML attempted a financial coup, CEO must resign: Shiyam

Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has last night described Sunday's controversial Bank of Maldives (BML) decision as an attempted financial coup, and called for the resignation of the bank's CEO Karl Stumke.

Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam has last night described Sunday's controversial Bank of Maldives (BML) decision as an attempted financial coup, and called for the resignation of the bank's CEO Karl Stumke.

In a party hub meeting of ruling People's National Congress (PNC) held last night, Shiyam said the country woke up on Sunday morning to a coup attempt orchestrated by opposition Maldivian Democratic Party together with BML.
