President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has today established the Maldivian Youth Advisory Committee - a fifteen member committee that will provide counsel to the President in various areas.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has today established the Maldivian Youth Advisory Committee - a fifteen member committee that will provide counsel to the President in various areas.
Forming a youth committee is amongst the presidential pledges of President Muizzu.
In a ceremony held at the President's Office today on occasion of the International Youth Day being marked today, the President established this committee and awarded certificates to committee members.
- Two members appointed by the President - Daud Ahmed and Nazaha Nazeem
- From National Level Athletes - Abdulla Siau and Rabab Ibrahim
- From Arts and Crafts - Aishath Ashna and Ahmed Amru
- From Youth Empowerment NGOs - Fathimath Raya Shareef and Nimal Hameed
- Four members appointed by the Youth Ministry - Abdulla Mahil Shaheem, Meesam Ibrahim, Mohamed Rayyan Mahid and Huwaina Mohamed Nihad
- Three members from University Students' Union - Jaish Ali Waheed, Hussain Arubaan Fawwaz and Dhaluf Ahmed
Meeting the youth representatives after the ceremony, the President said that with the highest percentage of the population being youth, the desired goal of establishing this committee is to have the youth's voice weigh in through advice to the President when matters of the State are decided upon.
"I am very pleased that a work like this has commenced. That is, Maldivian youth achieving something for the country's youth. There are no limits, nothing you cannot voice your views on," the President said.
"Instead of doing what I suggest, this paves the way for you to voice your views on how you want things done."
The President said that this committee can advice on anything relating to the State, or anything happening in the country.
