An out of control, speeding sports car had rammed into a person sitting on a motorcycle, causing serious injury. The driver of the car, as well as his passengers had then fled the scene.
After midnight last night, Police informed media that they had arrested three persons in relation to the case. These are IkramuRahman of Henveiru Nooranmaage, Ibrahim Ikram of Maafannu Land of Garden, and Jinah Ismail of Aazaadhuge in Gaafu Alif atoll Kanduhulhudhoo.
Police released mugshots of three arrested, but did not provide any further information related to their investigation.
Earlier last night, Police announced that they had arrested the driver of the car. The arrest of the other two were announced a couple of hours after the initial arrest. Police shared mugshots of all three arrestees and revealed that the driver of the car is a 25 year old Maldivian male.
The victim sustained serious injuries in the accident, with severe damage to his face. He is currently receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The hospital has confirmed that his condition is stable.
A video circulating on social media last night shows the people in the car getting out of the vehicle and fleeing the scene. As seen in the footage, two people exited the car after the accident. The driver of the car, wearing a white t-shirt, was followed out by a passenger wearing a yellow t-shirt.
After getting out of the car, both the individuals go and stand beside the injured victim. Shortly after this, the driver of the car gets on a motorcycle driven by a third person and flees the scene.
The accident occurred on the road between the Vinares flats, when an out of control sports car speeded into the street and rammed into a motorcycle that had just stopped on the side of the road.
On impact, the man was thrown into the air, resulting in him sustaining serious injuries.
As seen in photos, the car is not registered to be driven in the Male' zone. The license plate shows that the car is registered for the B Zone, which is the Northern and Southern atolls of Maldives.
