1000 day countdown to celebrate Majeediyya School's 100th anniversary

A 1,000-day countdown will commence to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Majeediyya School, the first government school in the Maldives.

This milestone anniversary will be marked with numerous special events leading up to April 19, 2027.

Majeediyya School was founded in April 1927, initially named Madharusathul Salahiyya, with 69 students. In June 1928, the school's name was changed to Madhrasathul Saniyyathul Hukoomathul Mahaldheebiyya, commonly referred to as Madhrasathul Saniyya.

The countdown will begin on Tuesday, with the first event being a special music show titled "Majeediyya Dhanmaru."

This show, scheduled for Wednesday at 21:00 hrs, will feature alumni who played music during and after their time at the school. According to the organizers, many renowned artists will perform, marking the first time many of these musicians will share the same stage.

The lineup includes Maizaan Ali Manik, Abdul Rasheed (Absy), Panama Shafeeq, Shammoon Hameed, and Ahmed Atif (Xray Athif).

Proceeds from ticket sales will fund activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of Majeediyya School.
